Nanook has a recessive gene in that he has a long-haired coat, or as known in the Malamute circles as a "woolly" coat. It's still that double layer, but his guard hairs are far longer, fluffier and sufficiently more work to maintain than the short-haired versions of the breed.

Nanook at 10 months. January 2017. Such a sweetheart! 5 months old. Took his class at national under Sr. Breeder Judge Sue Holt. Nanook took his class 3 times at the ASCA Nationals 2016. Nanook had a great weekend. I showed him 5 times and he took Best In Breed Puppy 3 times and Best Opposite Sex 2 times. There were 14 or so puppies showing.

About half-a-mile from his home in Girdwood, Alaska (a resort town about 40 miles from Anchorage) is where the trail begins and this is Nanook's starting point.
